Globally MSMEs play a vital role in the economic development of a nation. In India, while MSMEs contribute about 45% to the manufacturing sector, and 40% to exports, it also has the highest share of employment in India, with a contribution of around 69%. Tamilnadu being the second largest industrialized state in India, constitutes 12% of the total number of MSMEs in the country. These impressive figures illustrate the contribution of MSMEs to Tamil Nadu’s economy. Likewise, the agriculture sector contributes 13% to Tamilnadu’s GDP and around 60% to employment.
